2008 Rincon International Film Festival Schedule
As we mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the Rincon International Film Festival will be taking place this month, between April 22 - 26, 2008. Thanks to Steve Lantz who is the Festival Director, we can update you on the festival schedule of films.
If you are in the Rincon area, this sounds like it should be an action packed festival, with films from various genres, dinner events and parties throughout the week.

Tuesday Night, April 22nd
COMEDY NIGHT @ the Lazy Parrot
5:00 pm – Opening Ceremony / Dinner, 6:00 pm – Films
LIFE AND DEATH OF WRIGGLY CHEW (CANADA – 2 min, Animation)
Unsure of the slavering world that he is thrown into, a piece of bubble gum feels a beat emerge from the rhythmic chomping of his pearly white captors. His apprehension melts away as he breaks out his very best bubble-goo moves on the dance floor.
MONSTERS IN AUTUMN (USA – 27 min, Mockudrama)
This is an alternatively lighthearted and melancholy portrait of the lives and friendships of Frankenstein, The Wolfman, and Dracula, consisting of a montage of improvised reminiscences of the aging ‘monsters’.
RACCOON AND THE CRAWFISH (USA - 8 min, Animation)
A hungry raccoon searches for food and finds a crawfish on a quest for glory. Their battle will decide the fate between an ego full of pride or a belly full of food.
HOLD PLEASE (AUSTRALIA – 11 min, Dark Dramedy)
A woman calls a suicide hotline after a breakup and meets an unexpected turn of events.
ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS VILLAGE (USA – 14 min, Animation)
What happens when Santa’s magical pocket watch is accidentally lost and lands in a Christmas tree? The power of this enchanted watch brings to life a colorful Christmas village that was set up under the tree. It is a timeless tale of love, a leap of faith and transformation, featuring various village characters that embody the archetypes of good and evil battling over what force will control their village and save the magic of Christmas.
DIE FLUGBEGLEITERIN (GERMANY – 11 min, Dark Dramedy)
A morbidly obese flight attendant who works on a small commuter jet faces a life crisis and takes action. Her actions are the culmination of a life’s battle with love, work and food, and there are societal repercussions.
MY HAMMER MY FRIEND THE MUSICAL (USA - 10 min, Musical Comedy)
Joe Everybody loses his construction job because he doesn’t have the right tools. During his long journey Joe finds a talking hammer. As their friendship grows he is torn between using the hammer to gain his job back, or standing up for what he believes in & sparing his friend from physical pain.
INCIDENT AT A TRUCK STOP DINER (CANADA – 6 min, Action Dramedy)
Father and daughter stop to eat at a diner, but end up turning the tables and unexpectedly change someone’s day.
GOURMET (PUERTO RICO / USA – 4 min, Dark Dramedy Horror)
A couple at home resort to drastic measures to prepare the evening dinner.
SHARK SUIT – THE MUSICAL (USA - 10 min, Animation Musical Comedy)

For many years, conductor and pianist Daniel Barenboim has worked towards reconciling Arabs and Israelis. Based on the notion that ‘music is the language of peace,’ Barenboim and the literature Professor Edward Said brought together Arab and Israeli musicians to perform. An exciting documentary about the amazing story of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra, founded in 1999 by Edward Said and Daniel Barenboim. Also part of this experiment is Yo-Yo Ma.
