You See the Strangest Things While Driving in Puerto Rico

I have to say that since moving to Puerto Rico I have seen some strange things while driving:
Cars reversing back up an ‘on’ ramp.
Cars crossing a grass covered central reservation in order to do a U turn.
A car doing a 3 point turn at an intersection when the lights are green
Cars cutting across you on the freeway because they have left it too late to make the exit
And many more.

But today, I got to see something I had not seen before, either here or in fact any where.

Horse in the back of a standard sized pickupWhile driving home I noticed in the distance a small white pickup with make-shift wooden sides. As I got closer I had to do a ‘double take’ as I realized that the pickup was transporting a horse. A horse (and a decent sized one at that) in the back of a standard sized pickup.

Now that’s a first for me.

May be you don’t think this is strange, but I was surprised to see that horse there.

The passenger appeared happy at my interest, especially when I took the photo (apologies for the quality of the photo but my camera phone, was all I had).

Not sure how secure the horse was in this make-shift horse box, but it did seem to be enjoying the ride, and the fresh air.
