Black Guayaba Take Home a Grammy
I just wanted to share a bit of local news today. Last year Black:Guayaba a 5 piece rock band from Puerto Rico, were nominated for a Grammy in the category ‘Best Latin Rock Or Alternative Album’ for their first album , but lost out to Mexican rock band Maná. This year they were again nominated for a Grammy for their second album ‘No Hay Espacio’. I am pleased to announce that this year Black:Guayaba won the Grammy for Best Latin Rock Or Alternative Album. This is a great achievement for the band that has been playing the local scene in Puerto Rico for the past 7 years.
Congratualtions to Carlos R. Colón (Keyboards), Carlos Ortíz (Bass), Gabriel Calero (Drums), Gustavo González(Vocals) and Javier Morales (Guitar).
You can hear a track from Black Guayaba’s first album on my post ‘Images of Puerto Rico’. You don’t need to know Spanish to enjoy a great song.

Congrats to these guys. The Grammys are a BIG deal!
I agree, winning a Grammy is awesome. I have not had chance to see them live, but the music I have heard is pretty good. So I am sure, they are excellent live.
My wife knows the drummer, so it’s cool that they won.
