San Sebastián Street Festival Honors Ricky Martin

This year the San Sebastián Street Festival in Old San Juan will take place between 18 – 21. This year’s event marks the 38th year of the festival that commemorates the official day of Saint Sebastián, which is observed on January 20. The festival this year will also be honoring Puerto Rico’s very own Ricky Martin for his musical and humanitarian endeavors.

The action takes place on the famous San Sebastián Street in Old San Juan and is the island’s most attended celebration. During the day the street will be filled with local artists and artisans and at night the street turns into a massive street party filled with a carnival atmosphere. Activities include music, parades, and of course delicious local foods. This is Puerto Rico’s version of the Mardi Gras in New Orleans, the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro or the Nottinghill Carnival in London; so get ready to party…

Note: Old San Juan will be extremely busy during the carnival and parking will be at a premium. If you decide to drive, get there early for parking and expect to get stuck in traffic when you try to leave.
